Not sure if it's been covered in detail yet, here, but the Shins have for now broken up, with the lead guy starting a band with the producer of Modest Mouse, to form this new band called Broken Bells.

THe sound is excellent, and I dare say it sounds a bit like the new DW album (or the other way around).  Either way, I am uber excited about it coming out today. Give the two songs that have been released a listen to.
This is VERY good music.

i have one song that was a free download somewhere... I think itunes.  i want the rest, but I've sworn off purchasing music until june.  why?  because i have too much and need to spend less money. ha.  i guess its cheating to ask someone else to buy me music.

this is the strongest urge i have to break my vow.

There. Fixed it.

Danger Mouse is the genius behind the grey album (Jay-Z's Black album mashed up with the Beatle's White album] and was one half of Gnarls Barkley. He has also worked with Gorillaz.

RBerman-

You can also listen to the whole album, streaming, on that link.

I am very impressed with the third song YOUR HEAD IS ON FIRE.  Very beatlesesque....don't you think?

Song 1, titled The High Road may be the grooviest song on the album.  Starts off with a strong beat and Mercer grooving along with the beat in song.  There's a chorus that sounds like, well, a chorus singing behind Mercer, which I only assume is multiple mercers in chorus.

Great song, I assume will get some radio play.

Song 3, YOUR HEAD IS ON FIRE is quite a song.  Sounds like soemthing straight out of the 60s Beachboys craze, with some beatiful strings for added support.

The GHOST INSIDE could have been a Justin Timberlake song, with Mercer singing in falsetto.  Pretty rad song to be honest, as the music really compliments this unique technique well.

October, song 8 is my top song.  Kinda reminds me of the band Travis....

9 and 10 may be the strongest songs on the album (and the last two on the album, btw).

Its a shorter album, but it really doesn't matter.  Its really quite amazing, and I believe most of you will have a copy of it by June of this year.
