So this is the latest Posthumous publication of Tolkien writings.

I was excited when I saw it in a store the other day hoping that it was part of the middle earth writings. I really enjoyed The Children Hurin. Unfortunately this book has nothing to do with middle earth, but apparently is a re-telling of an old norse myth. I haven't read it myself, but I was wondering if anyone else has read it or is planning on reading it. It only came out a couple of weeks ago.

I had no idea this was something he had even worked on.  The Children of Hurin was a great story, one I would love to see retold on the silver screen someday.  Being a lover of all things Tolkien, I'll have to get my hands on this book soon and read it over the summer.

I don't have that, but I did get a book of John Howe art.  He and Alan Lee did all the art and design for the LoTR movies, and this book has three sections of Tolkien-related paintings: Silmarillion, Hobbit, and LoTR.  An excellent supplement to the Alan Lee-illustrated Hobbit which Simon and I recently finished reading.  Best of all, it was used on Amazon for $7 including shipping!

I loved the book, and would also love to see it in theaters one day, but that sure would be one sad movie. There aren't too many happy moments in the book.
