That's really exciting, Steph, congrats!  Exciting enough to pull me out of comment retirement.  Wedding date?

This is a thread showing God's weaving hand, directing things to humble and bless us so we can praise His name.  Thank you for the update!  I have given my prayer to God, for many blessings to you and your fiance, and the family you will build together.

This makes me happy.  A bred Landmark Baptist travels the providential path into Presbyterianism and finds not only the truths of the Reformed faith, but a husband as well.

And him the son of a Presbyterian pastor, no less.

Ah...I married a PK as well.  My father in law is a Pentecostal Free Will Baptist though (and my wife and I are PCA), so we're on the other side of the evangelical spectrum from one another.

Enjoy the blessings of marrying into a pastor's family, Steph.  For me, at least, it's been a great experience.

Thanks everyone!  Of all the things we have to be thankful for, Nathan and I are MOST thankful for the providence that is so evident from beginning to now, and y'all are a part of that!

Aren't all Pentacostals into "Free Will" (read: anti-Calvinist) and "Baptist"?

It's a relatively small denomination based in eastern North Carolina.  It's roughly the same size as the Orthodox Presbyterian Church.  www.pfwb.org

They have more in relation to the Holiness movement than the Free Will Baptist (with whom they share a history), with distinctives including Sanctification as a second definite work of grace, Baptism of the Holy Spirit as a third with initial physical evidence of speaking in other tongues, Physical Healing provided for in the Atonement.  They are all strongly dispensational and Arminian.  They're congregational though inconsistent in their Church government.

There are some wonderful people in the denomination, but definitely a fair share of kooks.  They are facing a crisis right now concerning identity-they tied themselves so closely to a particular cultural expression of Christianity that time has done a number on them.  Also, they've suffered from terrible planning for decades because they knew that Christ's return was imminent. (and I'm not exagerrating)

Their sister church is the Pentecostal Holiness church, and both church's were introduced to the Pentecostal movement in the same set of campmeetings.
